7th Brighton Dance Festival coming up

Brighton Dance Festival MichiganBrighton Dance Festival (BDF) is a weeklong contemporary dance festival located in Brighton, Michigan. It returns for the seventh year next month, from August 7-13, 2016.

 

The annual event kicks off with Opening Night on Sunday, August 7, featuring a professional dance concert. All registered students receive a free ticket to this performance. So far, performers include Mirela Amaral Dance Company, William Charboneau, Pure Existence Dance Company, Samuel Horning, Megan Drabant, Sean Hoskins, Tessa Brinza and Dontez Jones.

 

The week continues with a wide range of classes taught by professional local dance educators and company directors. Classes run Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm daily. There are separate programs for Youth (ages 9-11), Teens (ages 12-15) and Professionals (ages 16 and older.)

 

The festival culminates with the BDF Student Showcase on Saturday. All full-time participating students perform in this showcase, along with a few guests.

 

For dancers’ convenience, student housing is available to Professional Program and Dance Educators Program attendees.
