Fleet Moves brings dance to Cape Cod

Fleet Moves Dance FestivalThe Movement Party recently announced the 4th annual Fleet Moves Dance Festival, returning July 6-10, 2015, with a roster of classes and performances that celebrate the vibrant community and natural landscapes of Wellfleet. Inspired by the town’s rich history, environment and existing arts community, Fleet Moves brings dance to new audiences and explores how movement can enrich daily life.

“I celebrated the opportunity to be in Wellfleet last summer for Fleet Moves,” said festival participant Anne Fayen. “With a wonderful air of spontaneity, dance was happening everywhere; emerging from the wild landscape and the bustling town. For the days and nights of the festival, dance was liberated from its usual confines and enlivened Wellfleet.”

Fleet Moves Dance FestivalThe 2015 Fleet Moves artists will use Wellfleet as their canvas, stage and laboratory—
taking inspiration from sloping dunes, shifting tides, enduring traditions and diverse ecosystems. The weeklong program features morning movement classes for kids and adults, pop-up performances that activate well-loved locations, and community collaborations with local artists and organizations.

A few specific performances and community events to note include: With, featuring collaborative duets between bodies, sites and
sounds on
July 9; Dawn Dance, an early morning dance on July 6 that unfolds along White Crest Beach as the sun rises over the Atlantic Ocean; and the tropically themed Closing Night Dance Party at The Wellfleetian on July 10.
