Participants in FAB's 2016 Performance Workshop with Master Teacher Floriane BlitzThe French Academie of Ballet in New York City will hold an Open Audition for entry to its 2017 Summer Intensive Programs on Saturday, March 4 at 3 pm at St. Veronica Creative Cultural Center.

The Academie’s curriculum is based on the French School of Classical Ballet and stresses precision in technique and elegance in artistry. Founder and Artistic Director François Perron is a graduate of the Paris Opera Ballet School and is one of the rare dancers who has performed with all three major ballet companies in New York City– the Joffrey Ballet (before it moved to Chicago), New York City Ballet (NYCB) for six years, and briefly with American Ballet Theatre (ABT.)

Regarded as exclusive opportunities, the French Academie of Ballet’s Summer Intensive Programs are designed for serious dancers ages 9-21.

In addition to studying with Perron, dancers will take class from Peter Brandenhoff (Boston Ballet, Hamburg Ballet) and Juan Rodriguez (Complexions.) Previous summer guest faculty have included Irina Dvorovenko (ABT), Marcelo Gomes (ABT), Misty Copeland (ABT), Maria Riccetto (ABT), Nicole Graniero (Washington Ballet), Roman Zhurbin (ABT), Karin Averty (Paris Opera Ballet, San Francisco Ballet), Sebastien Marcovici (NYCB), Dianna White (NYCB) as well as others from English National Ballet, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Carolina Ballet and Momix.

The Ballet Technique Intensive (running Saturday, August 5 – Thursday, August 10) includes daily technique classes, daily variations or pointe class, daily mens’ class and partnering classes throughout the week.

The Summer Intensive (running Monday, August 14 – Friday, August 18 and Monday, August 21 – Friday, August 25) is a broader intensive. In addition to daily technique, pointe/variation classes and mens’ class, students enjoy weekly supplemental classes such as Pilates, contemporary, character and
partnering.

All classes are offered either in the morning (9:30 am – 2 pm) or in the afternoon (2 pm – 6:30 pm.) The dancer’s schedule is dependent on level placement.
