‘Joffrey Elite’ docuseries greenlighted

New ballet school docuseriesAfter its teaser in November, Joffrey Elite, a new docuseries following the lives of dancers at the Joffrey Ballet School, was given the greenlight by the YouTube channel AwesomenessTV to continue creating episodes for release. The series premieres today – Friday, January 20 at 3 p.m. EST! It’s booked for a total of 12 episodes, with an episode being released weekly.

In the show, year-round trainee dancers are led by Directors Max Baud and Matthew Prescott. Viewers will watch the dancers’ journeys as they compete in competitions around the country.

Prescott previously told Dance Informa, “We use NYC as the backdrop and the legacy of the Joffrey Ballet School as a means to show the world what it takes to be a dancer.

He added, “Having an inside look into the hearts, minds and lives of dancers is important because it makes us more accessible to the world. Being able to share what makes a dancer tick will broaden our audiences and lead to further integration into pop culture.”

In addition, Joffrey Elite will provide a unique glimpse into the creative process as it shows the progression of choreographing, rehearsing and competing various pieces created by Prescott and Baud.
