Nominations for the 2017 Tony Awards

Musical directed and choreographed by Andy BlankenbuehlerThe nominations for the 2017 Tony Awards have been announced. Presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the 2017 Tony Awards will be presented on Sunday, June 11 at 8/7c on CBS.

 

The musical Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 received the most Tony nominations this year, with a grand total of 12. The revival Hello, Dolly! came next with 10. Then Dear Evan Hansen with 9, A Doll’s House, Part 2 with 8, Come From Away with 7, Groundhog Day The Musical with 7, Oslo with 7 and so on.

 

The nominees for Best Choreography include Andy Blankenbuehler for Bandstand, Kelly Devine for Come From Away, Peter Darling and Ellen Kane for Groundhog Day The Musical, Denis Jones for Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical and Sam Pinkleton for Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. 

 

In non-competitive categories, James Earl Jones won the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre; Gareth Fry and Pete Malkin, sound designers for The Encounter, won a Special Tony Award; Dallas Theater Center in Texas won the Regional Theatre Tony Award; Baayork Lee won the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award; and Nina Lannan and Alan Wasser won Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
