Sidewalk Detroit returns for 4th year

Sidewalk Detroit festival presents dancersFounded in 2012, Sidewalk Detroit is described as a “grassroots, community arts presenting organization.” Celebrating the landscape and culture of Detroit, it’s a unique opportunity to see the city come alive with presentations of original site-specific performance and installation art.

Set for August 5-6, the event takes place in the heart of Detroit’s Old Redford and Brightmoor neighborhood. In the past, activated spaces for Sidewalk Detroit have included alleys, storefronts, sidewalks, community gardens, parking lots and the street itself.

Both local Detroiters and national artists will perform – presenting dance, music and various visual arts installations. The hip-hop group Hardcore Detroit performed last year, as well as R&B-meets-tap-dance performer Brinae Ali (who’s previously toured the world with Savion Glover) and modern dance troupes Kristi Faulkner Dance and LaMarre and Dancers.
